How Buses Have Evolved Over The Years

A bus is one of the modern means of transportation in today’s era. Not owning a car is not a problem as you can commute by bus. Driving to far places can be tiring but you can have the option to ride a bus. Whatever is the reason, buses make people’s lives easier.

Before buses existed, people had a hard time traveling. Although steam automobiles were invented, only a few people got to own and use these and other people had to travel by other means which was the horse-drawn omnibus, introduced in the 1800’s. This horse-drawn vehicle is an enclosed cabin with two wooden seats placed on each side so the passengers would be facing to each other, while the driver is seated in front of the enclosed cabin facing front as with the horses. Double decker horse buses also existed in the past to try to accommodate more passengers by letting them seat on top of the cabin with a back to back bench and dragged by three horses.

The difference of horse carriage is that today, we ride on it for experience and sightseeing while in the past, people had to ride it to be able to get to places and it can sometimes get distressing for them. Horses can get really smelly and cranky. The transportation must have been slow also as the horses can get tired when overworked. Horse flu existed back then, and it caused a halt to many horse-drawn transportations.

The next transportation that was invented was the cable car. It was supposed to be designed to transport passengers efficiently but due to operational costs it had to be stopped, as well as the government did not approve because of possible fatalities it may cause.

After this, the trolley bus came into existence. A street car had to follow rails with different routes placed in city streets and passengers need to go to station stops to ride the street car. With this type of system invented, the workplace in the city improved as more people from the country side started to travel and work in the city. Street cars helped revolutionized many major cities and with its industries as their economy started to rise. Some cities today still have street cars being used by netizens.

The next invention was the motor bus which was even more favorable than the previous transport means. With this invention, the number of people commuting increased. Bus companies then started to change their bus designs by increasing the size and seats to accommodate more passengers.

Life in the city can get very busy every single day. A big city like New York have over 2 million bus passengers daily. Bus trips in Chicago reach to almost 19,000 daily.

The fact that millions of people use the bus daily, you could definitely imagine it getting dirty throughout the day.

A bus wash is important to keep the bus clean and for passengers to feel comfortable not to get sick when riding the bus. There are a lot of bus wash companies who provide such efficient bus cleaning services. A clean and hygienic bus will please people and invite more people, therefore a bus must be cleaned with certified bus wash company.
